Finnish Environment Institute SYKE monitors the development of the amount and recycling rate of construction and demolition waste (C&DW) from 2016.
The regional estimates on the amounts of construction and demolition waste are based on waste statistics and regional statistics on entrepreneurial activity. The national data are divided to regional estimates based on turnover of construction within the regions, since the amount of construction and demolition waste is strongly dependent on construction activity and since there is not more specific data available.
The monitoring of recycling rate of construction and demolition waste is based on national statistics for EU waste framework monitoring by Statistics Finland and SYKE. Landmasses are excluded from the calculation. In 2016 backfilling is included.
